We believe that before we can actually teach young people about how to set up a business etc… there needs to be awareness raising. Not only about what entrepreneurship is but also who is already out there doing it? Who are the ones who strode out to do what they think is necessary to do?
Young people in Asia, however seriously lack entrepreneurial role models. We are not talking about the Li-Ka Shing or Ciputra of role model, who are to old to be role models for young people, but role models which are as young as the kids we want to encourage to become entrepreneurial. Role models who made it without a family fortune or family guangxi to support them, role models which faced the challenge of balancing school or work with trying to set up their business or project.
This new series on this blog will introduce young people from Asia Pacific who dared to stride out and set up their own venture. Often their ventures are not big businesses yet, often they are projects run with the support of lots of volunteers… but nevertheless they required the young person to do something against the conventional norm and hopefully they will inspire more young people to follow suit.
